We hold the care, safety and wellbeing of children and young people as a central and fundamental responsibility of our schools. We are committed to creating a nurturing learning environment where children and young people are respected, their voices are heard, and they are safe.
We believe all children should be supported to express their views and have their views taken seriously. We commit to providing children and young people with opportunities to actively participate in decisions that affect their education.
MacKillop Education promotes cultural safety for Aboriginal children and those from culturally and/or linguistically diverse backgrounds; we provide all children and young people in our schools with the opportunity to connect with their culture and strengthen their sense of belonging and identity.
We support the rights of children and families living with disability and commit to providing opportunities for children with a disability to safely participate at school. We also commit to developing LGBTIQA+ inclusive practices and creating welcoming and inclusive environments for children, young people and their families.
MacKillop Family Services brought the sector together at its Child Safe Organisations conference, to explore child safe practice and prevention and ensure the ongoing safety of children and young people in Australia.
Student voice is a core component of our work at MacKillop Education. It can be observed in many aspects of our school environment and in interactions between staff and students.
